Are you interested in cultures of the different races in Singapore? If you are, you have come to the right place! This Asian Civilisations Museum contains exhibitions and showcases the ancient cultures which our forefathers brought into Singapore. This new discovery has made me even more enthusiastic to learn about how my forefathers lived in Singapore. This showcase educates the public on the Bukit Larangan which is malay for "Forbbiden Hill". This "Forbidden Hill" is actually the Fort Canning Park! It was known as Bukit Larangan before Sir Stamford Raffles arrived and he was told of how local settlers were wary of ascending the hill as they believed it was the site of palaces built by their ancestral kings.
So as you can see from the above few pictures, this museum informs the public on the different kinds of artifacts that our forefathers used and also how Singapore's decline started. As Singapore was a great port for trading and it was bringing the most growth economically to the country, making it one of the busiest port in the world. Due to the tough competition, it is neccessary for Singapore to have a well-facilitated port. For example, a new port was set up at one of our neighbouring country, Malaysia.
As you all know, this is one of the Gods of the Buddhist religion. This shows that the Asian Civilisations Museum raise the public awareness about the cultures of different religions, not just cultures of different races.
From what i have discovered in the museum, there were many different cultures brought in from many different countries like China, India.
My experience through this museum is definitely an unforgettable one. I felt as though that i was travelling back in time! Moreover, this museum has provided me with countless knowledge which is fulfilling. If there was an opportunity to allow me to travel back in time, i would definitely grab it.
